Bleasdale has been using Cabernet Franc in blends for quite a while, over 25 years. The opportunity to present the varietal on it’s own was too hard to resist, especially as a bouncy, fresh and crunchy red. This wine has been made with minimal yet attentive winemaking and is bottled with low sulphites for early consumption.
Bright crimson red with purple tints, the perfume is inviting with rose petal, musk and raspberry from whole berry fermentation along with some star anise and fennel complexity. The palate is lively with a silky middle palate, some structural savoury tannins and a crunchy red apple finish. Bottled early to retain freshness, a perfect spring/ summer red.

Blood moon wines, minimal intervention, maximum love conceived under a blood moon.
Who am i? My name is Matt Aulich and I started blood moon wines in 2014 with a couple of mates. In 2019 I went solo. This is kind of oversimplifying it, but I come at winemaking from two angles:
I really get a kick out flavours and aromas and wine offers a vast spectrum, both in its final bottled form and along the way, from fresh grapes to ferments and barrels. then there’s texture… this is a primal sensory experience, but infinitely nuanced.
The mortal coil is beyond wonderful, but at times, let’s face it, it can be a tough gig. it can be awful. it can be boring. sometimes people want something that harmonises with the good times; sometimes we need to jazz it up, or just to ease the furrowed brow. I try to provide that. in moderation. Or not
I grow grapes in Sunbury and the Diamond Valley and I source other fruit from responsible growers all over Victoria. I’m equally happy working with the traditional french varietals and a suite of italians. the latter are often well adapted to our hotter, dryer farming conditions. I try to make wines that are expressive of time and place, which is where a less-is-more approach in the winery comes in. I believe that everyone should be able to buy good wine. assuming you think mine is good, I try to keep it affordable for you.
The Chalmers Heathcote Vineyard is an east facing sloped site comprised of the famous red Cambrian soils of the area. The lower vineyard from whence came this fruit, is deep red clay-loam. Chalmers aim to follow organic farming principles where possible and are transparent in their communication when it is not. I destemmed the fruit leaving the berries intact, then rolled the cap under by hand once a day. About 25% of the fruit was left wholebunch as a layer at the bottom of the fermenter. No plunging. 24 days on skins. Pressed to old French oak barrels for 10 months rest. Unfiltered, unfined, wild yeast fermented.

Winemaking – 25% of the fruit was placed in the bottom of the fermenters, the rest gently destemmed over the top. Wild yeasts were allowed to complete the fermentation, with the cap being rolled under the juice by hand once a day for 18 days, before being pressed to old neutral French oak barrels. No additions apart from sulphur, no fining or filtration. Vegan friendly.

Medium to deep red colour with a good purple tinge, the bouquet fresh and sweet cherry-like, almost pinoty; bright, fragrant and charming. A good early drinking medium-bodied red, which would go better with food than solo, on account of its firm tannins. It is very elegant. Fruit sweetness emerged increasingly as it aired.

Eldorado Road Onyx Durif 2016 Victoria BeechworthEldorado Road Onyx Durif 2016 – Super late ripening its painfully tight bunches make it a difficult variety to grow. The resultant wines are structured, jet black in colour with a remarkable depth of flavour. They are a safe bet to reward with careful cellaring or as young wines a great match with red meat. Planted at our home vineyard in Eldorado from cuttings of the original Rutherglen clone taken from the Stanton & Killeen vineyard in Rutherglen. Our site in Eldorado is a cooler site for Durif, this allows us to make a more restrained rendition of this usually powerhouse variety.

Fairbank Sangiovese 2020 Central VictoriaFairbank Sangiovese 2020 Central Victoria In 2020 our Sangiovese grapes came from the Balgownie Vineyard in Bendigo – a first for us, and the mark of a challenging vintage. Made in a fragrant and juicy style for a lighter drinking red. The wine is very bright, with red cherry and strawberry notes, laced with savoury aromas of fennel and thyme. The palate shows confident red fruits, combined with savoury dusty tannins and bright acidity

OUR STORY
Galli Estate was the vision of Tuscan born Lorenzo Galli who came to Australia in the 1950’s. It was moving full circle for Lorenzo, whose family had made wine in Italy for generations.
Two vineyard sites were carefully selected, in the Heathcote and Sunbury wine regions of Victoria. Each was planted with grape varieties that ideally suited their individual soils and climate.
The rich red volcanic soils of Sunbury and the famous Cambrian soils of Heathcote were fundamental to Lorenzo’s dream. They are the key to wines that honestly reflect their origins and bring pleasure to those that share them.
Galli adopts principles of organinc viticulture through the use of fertigation, natural fertilisers & minimal spraying across both our vineyards. This together with our utilisation of 100% recycled water for the Sunbury vineyard reinforces our commitment to sustainable vineyard practices.
These practices are also carried out in the winery with a more minimal approach to the winemaking through the adaptation of traditional methods focused on the use of indigenous yeasts. We also practice racking on the new moon & minimal filtration for our small batch bespoke clonal selection of Premium & Riserva wines.
Galli Estate Winery boasts an impressive Cellar Door & Restaurant complex. The striking steel arched building offers sweeping views over the vines, and is home to one of the best restaurants in the area.
The intimate Cellar Door presents the ideal opportunity to taste the impressive range of Galli Estate wines. The friendly knowledgeable staff will be pleased to advise you on your wine choices.

There is just over one hectare of Sagrantino planted on our Heathvale property, the only planting in the Eden Valley and one of very few in Australia.
Sagrantino hails from Umbria in Central Italy, where it is best known for the wines from the Montefalco wine region. The wine is called ‘The Belief’ because that is exactly what it takes to persevere with the variety. The conviction that we had what it takes to produce a wine from this delicious grape, that we first tasted in 1986, instantly falling in love. Thirteen years from that first taste, through sourcing cuttings from Umbria, quarantine of the vines and finally the release of the first wine in 2010, our belief in the variety has seen us through.
2018 saw an excellent year in the Eden Valley with great colour, plenty of flavour and excellent ripeness resulting in balanced, flavoursome wines that are a pleasure to drink and speak clearly of the region.
