Amon-Ra Shiraz is an iconic wine that epitomises Ben Glaetzer’s passion to create wines that are full flavoured, multi layered and intense but still elegant, stylish and finely balanced. Exceptional old vine fruit was sourced from the famed Ebenezer sub district at the northern tip of the Barossa Valley. Vine age 50—130 years old. Yield 2 tonnes per hectare.
Colour: Deep purple in youth, will evolve to a lovely dark red hue with maturation.
Aroma: Blood plum showing hints of dark cherries and dried garden herbs.
Palate: Rich and mouthcoating yet with the balance, finesse and elegance that epitomises Amon-Ra. An earthy spice complements the brooding dark fruit flavours.
Peak Drinking: A wine that will develop beautifully with long term cellaring
through to 2045.
The irrepressible Ben Glaetzer is the driving force behind Glaetzer Wines. Ben graduated in winemaking from Adelaide University in South Australia after working at Barossa Valley Estate during school and university holidays.
After travelling extensively throughout many of the worlds wine regions, Ben returned to the Barossa and joined the family company. Ben’s ability to blend traditional winemaking techniques with a modern flair is reflected in the style of wines under the Glaetzer label. He makes unique, elegant wines with minimal intervention, which are regarded as classics and unmistakably Barossan.

Crafted in a modern, full-bodied style, to emphasise the bright and ripe fruit flavours. Dark cherry and ripe mulberry are infused with subliminal hints of sweet spice. A fleshy palate of dark fruit is balanced by faintly dusty tannins derived from a combination of French and American oak puncheons.
The grapes destined for the Bunnamagoo labels are sourced from the Bunnamagoo Estate, a historic property near Rockley, and from the Eurunderee vineyard not far from Mudgee. Although the vineyards are both in the Central Ranges of New South Wales they differ markedly in their terroir. Rockley has one of the coolest climates in Australia. That, together with its deep volcanic basalt soils, results in wines of distinctive cool climate style. At Mudgee, the warmer climate and variable soils under laid with limestone produce wines with subtle nuances and warmth. The winery, built in 2009, is located at Mudgee where the grapes are treated with the individuality that they deserve. Single vineyard wines such as those produced by Bunnamagoo Estate Wines are subject to vagaries of season and accordingly each vintage has its own character. Each vintage is pondered and the vigneron’s and the winemaker’s personal responses are discussed while the grapes are still on the vine. Skilful and attentive winemaking ensures that the promise of each vintage can be fully realized. The procedure is as far as possible from factory methods with each decision from the timing of harvest to the time of release being made with a view to ensuring the integrity of the wine.

Charles Melton The Kirche 2018 South Australia Barossa ValleyCharles Melton The Kirche 2018 Deep delicious colour. Bright crimson. Highly perfumed upon first look. A very lifted sweet noes, but again as is always the case with this block, the Cabernet (34%) component is highly assertive. A very smooth round palate, with lovely plush mid palate weight. Again strongly varietal flavours evident on the palate. Lovely package. I am hesitant to say pretty, because it underplays the complexity of the wine. But very fragrant.

It carries mid-palate weight, with a lengthy finish that lingers in the mouth for some time. This wine can be enjoyed now or over the next decade or two.

Fragrant, peppery, medium-bodied .An elegant shiraz whose track-record indicates it will drink well over many years.
Craiglee has been a core member of the Victorian wine industry for over 40 years. But our history stretches back much further…
James Stewart Johnston, a member of the Victorian Parliament, and a prominent Melbourne businessman, originally planted vines at Craiglee in 1863.
The first plantings comprised about 16 acres, made up of a number of varieties, but over time, 2 varieties proved most successful. These were shiraz and riesling.
James S Johnston made wine at Craiglee for about 12 years, during which time he built a substantial bluestone winery that utilised the gravity feed system. Grapes were brought to the upper level by horse and dray, crushed, fermented on the next level and fed into barrels below. The building is constructed to take advantage of the natural slope, and nestling into the hill behind the house, it affords perfect cellaring conditions year round (that we still use today).
The most notable wine of this period was the 1872 Hermitage (shiraz) which was highly awarded at International Wine shows of the time. James’ son, Wilfred, continued to make wine at Craiglee until the 1920s when changing economic circumstances and public tastes forced a change of enterprise. The paddocks were turned over to fat lamb production, and the doors were closed on the winery.
Craiglee Today
Patrick Carmody, an agricultural science graduate, took over the management of his family farm in Sunbury in the early 1970s. When several bottles from the original winery were opened at a function in Melbourne, it became clear that the Sunbury site provided a unique terroir ideal for the growth of cool-climate wines. As a result Patrick planted vines on the site of the original vineyard in 1976 and processed the first wine in 1979. The first commercial quantity was released in 1982 with the 1980 shiraz.

An intense and lifted nose with blackberry jam, plum and mulberry, and a subtle savoury smoky note in the background. The palate is rich and dense with concentrated fruit, chocolate notes and a weighty mid-palate, it lingers with sweet spice. Drinking beautifully at release & will continue to develop with bottle age.
Made by winemakers Candice Helbig and Frewin Ries, CRFT Wines express the individualism of location. We specialise in small-batch, single vineyard wines, using fruit sourced from a handful of blocks in South Australia’s Adelaide Hills, Barossa Valley and Eden Valley. Each wine is made from grapes picked from a single vineyard, and every bottle becomes an honest reflection of that one specific location, an untarnished sample of soil and season.
We source fruit from 10 vineyards across the Adelaide Hills, Barossa Valley and Eden Valley, including our own NASAA Certified Organic Adelaide Hills property – named Arramore. Just two to three tonnes are picked from each block and wines are produced in small batches of about 2,000 bottles.
Our winemaking philosophy is simple: preserve what the vineyard grew and create balance and harmony, leaving a minimal winemaking footprint.
