Shashi and Devendra Singh have been growing grapes biodynamically on their Red Hill South farm since 2005 and have been producing an outstanding Syrah under the label “Avani Syrah” since 2009. Shashi believes on minimal intervention in her winemaking process and works on maintaining natural acidity in her wines. Since 2015, they have been sourcing quality fruits around the Mornington peninsula to extend their offering and create the “Amrit” range.
This fresh, zippy Chardonnay is made from a vineyard in South redhill, all organically – biodynamically farmed, it’s fermented with natural yeast in old oak barrels.

100% estate grown Chardonnay from one of the highest and coolest vineyards in South Australia. Barrel fermented in a mix of new and seasoned French oak using natural yeast and allowed to develop over 12 months prior to bottling Apple blossom, yellow peach and gentle baking spices in a mouth filling yet gentle delivery on the palate. Drinking wonderfully now, with strong ageing potential over the next 5-7 years.
Brian Anderson, and his son Ben, purchased 32 acres of land in Lenswood, Adelaide Hills in 1994 and developed it into a vineyard. The family focuses on producing high quality wine grapes and premium wines. Since Brian’s passing, Ben and his wife Clare have continued to run the family business.
Ben spends the majority of his time in the vineyard looking after our vines and making sure the grapes are growing well. If you can’t find him in amongst the vines, there’s a good chance he is working with our winemaker in the winery, meeting with our business partners locally or overseas or just hiding somewhere with a glass of our award-winning Pinot Noir!
Clare is the artist in the family. As a previous art school student, she loves gardening, pottery, and drawing things that inspire her. She is the one who draws our beloved A Series labels every vintage. Most of the time, you will meet her when you come to our cellar door for some wine tasting or a relaxing lunch as she also runs our cellar door restaurant. Clare is the best person to talk with if you want to know about things like the local flowers and birds, the best photo spots around Fox Creek trail and where to go in the Adelaide Hills to find great local produce.

Bellwether returns to the heart and soul of winemaking, hand pruned, handpicked, whole bunched pressed, indigenous yeast and french oak… paying respect to the ancient terroir I am fortunate to work with. Enjoy with great food!
Beautiful nose of oatmeal, nougat and flint – with a rich palate and fine lingering acid. An interplay of good sulphides on the nose.
About Bellwether
Bellwether is the creation of Sue Bell – a woman regarded as one of the country’s most talented (and hard-working) winemakers.
Based in Coonawarra where she now works out of an iconic old shearing shed, Sue works with a range of growers and vineyards around South Australia, Victoria and Tasmania to put together her unique range of wines.
All are made very much by hand, with minimal intervention in the winery and a focus on capturing the essence of each variety, site and season.

Subtle and complex aromas of grilled nuts, bread-crust, and ripe stone fruit. The palate shows the power of a strong season with lots of fruit weight intertwined with a fresh grapey acidity that takes time to emerge from the mass of fruit and creamy lees character.
Caledonia Australis wines are made unashamedly with a natural and old world hand. The vineyard is dry grown and close planted with vine spacings of 1m and a fruiting wire at 50cm. The vines are entirely hand tended, with yields consistently well below the 35hl/ha (2.18t/ac) ceiling that is imposed on the Grand Cru vineyards of the Cote d’Or. The wines are made with minimal additives or intervention and primacy is given to the wines texture and structure.
For the pinot noir, the fruit remains in contact with the skins for 20 to 40 days depending on the vintage and primary and malolactic fermentation occur with out inoculation. Generally the Pinot Noir fermentation is preceded by a soaking period with gentle hand plunging. The wines then go through a long elevage (18 – 20 months) in tight grained French oak barrels (about 15% new, 15% second use, 70% older) and then a further three months bottle ageing prior to release.
The Chardonnay is whole bunch pressed and lightly settled prior to racking to barriques. As with the Pinot Noir the fermentations are allowed to proceed naturally and at their own pace. Malolactic fermentation is not encouraged or discouraged and most barrels have some malolactic influence though the cold cellar temperature generally precludes full malolactic fermentation taking place. The wines are minimally sulphured in early spring to prevent malolactic fermentation completing. The chardonnay then remains on lees for another year with gentle batonnage as required. Light bentonite fining and another small sulphur addition are made prior to bottling.

The 2018 Clarence House Reserve Chardonnay has been blended from Chardonnay matured in selected French Oak. The wine was produced by Anna Pooley and Justin Bubb at Pooley Wines. It will accompany food or can be served as an aperitif. Expect a richer style of Chardonnay here with excellent oak balance, crisp acidity and all-round complexity.
This small vineyard is located just north of Hobart on a perfectly positioned north-east facing slope. The beautiful old Georgian homestead of Clarence House was built in 1830 at Clarence Plains, Mt Rumney, has been maintained in its original splendour surrounded by beautiful gardens, and in 1998 present owner David Kilpatrick began planting vines on the north east sloping block facing Mount Rumney just below the Coal River Valley. Over 8ha of the total 12ha of plantings consists of pinot noir and chardonnay, with the remainder including pinot blanc, sauvignon blanc, merlot and tempranillo. All wines are now made by Anna Pooley and Justin Bubb at the nearby Pooley cellar in Cambridge.

Bright lemon in the glass. Refreshing acidity cuts through a saline body showing intense red apple, pear, peaches, and lemon zest complimented with a rich vanilla, nutmeg, resinous and creamy long finish.
Clyde Park Vineyard was established in 1979 when the varieties of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir were planted on the property.
Further plantings since have increased the vineyard to 35 acres, expanding the original Pinot Noir and Chardonnay and adding Shiraz, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris. In all we have 7 clones of Pinot Noir, 6 clones of Chardonnay, 2 clones of Shiraz and Sauvignon Blanc and a sole clone of Pinot Gris.
The site consists of undulating north easterly slopes. The soil varies from silt/clay to sandy loam with basalt over a limestone base. Plantings on our north easterly slope provide exposure to sunlight, whilst the river flat area offers warmth and wind protection. Viticulturally the site produces premium fruit of low yields providing balanced wines of great purity, complexity and finesse.
We have owned Clyde Park since 1996 and have concentrated on developing premium quality cool climate wines, which today are sold across Australia and recently we have begun to export.

Lifted grapefruit, honeydew melon and lemon zest aromas appear on the nose. The wine is bright with flavours of green apple, lime and creamy cashew notes on the middle palate. The finish is long and refined with a lovely driving line of acidity.
There are few places in Australia cool enough to craft world class wines from early ripening varieties such as Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. That this can be achieved in Southern NSW is among the most exciting stories in Australian wine making today.
