Amon-Ra Shiraz is an iconic wine that epitomises Ben Glaetzer’s passion to create wines that are full flavoured, multi layered and intense but still elegant, stylish and finely balanced. Exceptional old vine fruit was sourced from the famed Ebenezer sub district at the northern tip of the Barossa Valley. Vine age 50—130 years old. Yield 2 tonnes per hectare.
Colour: Deep purple in youth, will evolve to a lovely dark red hue with maturation.
Aroma: Blood plum showing hints of dark cherries and dried garden herbs.
Palate: Rich and mouthcoating yet with the balance, finesse and elegance that epitomises Amon-Ra. An earthy spice complements the brooding dark fruit flavours.
Peak Drinking: A wine that will develop beautifully with long term cellaring
through to 2045.
The irrepressible Ben Glaetzer is the driving force behind Glaetzer Wines. Ben graduated in winemaking from Adelaide University in South Australia after working at Barossa Valley Estate during school and university holidays.

Glaetzer Anaperenna is a seamless fusion of the two varieties Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon. Voluptuous, opulent and yet refined, with a very long and satisfying finish.
Variety:84% Shiraz / 16% Cabernet Sauvignon
Almost glowing black with deep red hues. A heady bouquet of mulberries, blackcurrant, clove, aniseed and nutmeg. A fine white pepper nuance intermingles. Fine Cabernet tannins provide the structural framework for the flesh and fruit driven nature of the Shiraz. A dense yet savoury palate with depth and boldness also exhibiting an elegant restraint. A wine that will mature extremely well with long term cellaring through to 2040.

Trent Burge grew up a keen cricketer and footballer, revelling in the camaraderie and competition of local teams. He followed this passion to England, spending several years playing seasons of cricket and returning home to work Barossa vintage. Double Trouble blends two outstanding regional varieties in tribute to the boy’s time in this ‘double life’ of one endless summer.
Shiraz Cabernet is the classic Australian wine duo, boldly generous yet approachable. To bring out the best from the Barossa region, we combine valley-floor Shiraz with cool climate Cabernet Sauvignon, from a family-owned vineyard in neighbouring Eden Valley. Barossa Boy Double Trouble salutes teammates, on the field and in the vineyard. Created for sharing.

Charles Melton Grains of Paradise 2018 South Australia Barossa ValleyCharles Melton Grains of Paradise 2018 The generosity of the Barossa in a single sniff, the jolly rotundity of the Tanunda oompah band in a glass. This wine represents our pride in the classic Barossa style, it is indeed a homage to the training I received under Peter Lehmann through the 70’s and 80’s. Tasting the classic old Saltrams of the 50’s and 60’s many of which remain simply delicious drinks to this day, gives you a real insight into the longevity of the classic Barossa style. (A ’57 Saltram Cabernet tasted in 2018 remains pleasantly seared in my memory.) Rich, full bodied and generous without being overbearing. Opulent yet refined. If you were to take a vinous ambassador with you overseas when we finally can, please take this wine.

Charles Melton Nine Popes 2016 South Australia Barossa ValleyCharles Melton Nine Popes 2016 South Australia Barossa Valley
Charles Melton Nine Popes 2016 South Australia Barossa ValleyThe 2016 Nine Popes was given a final polish in 100% new French oak puncheons for 60% of the blend. This wine to wood ratio has the effect of giving an almost gossamer-like dusting of new oak to the wine, rather than a solid hit which is exactly how we want it for the Popes. A deepish colour but not black, as is typical of Grenache wines. There is some real tar and roses complexity and a little hint of Eden Valley ironstone. This is a structured, spicy Popes that will sweeten and flower with time and remain rich and plush in the Popes tradition.Mid to deep red with just a hint of amber edge, typical of Grenache. The initial aromatic is showing less Mediterranean garrigue and herb but more of sweet talc and salted caramel perfume. Some nice sweet cedar adds complexity but the 2015 vintage is less wild gypsy and more almost pinot like sweet red fruits.
Displaying the characteristics of the 2015 vintage, more fluidity plumper and open weave in texture. Similar to 2005 or 2009 but with less masculinity and a little more finesse.

Charles Melton The Kirche 2018 South Australia Barossa ValleyCharles Melton The Kirche 2018 Deep delicious colour. Bright crimson. Highly perfumed upon first look. A very lifted sweet noes, but again as is always the case with this block, the Cabernet (34%) component is highly assertive. A very smooth round palate, with lovely plush mid palate weight. Again strongly varietal flavours evident on the palate. Lovely package. I am hesitant to say pretty, because it underplays the complexity of the wine. But very fragrant.
