History Of Rocche Costamagna
On May 15, 1841 , the Police Office of the Royal Military Command of the city and province of Alba granted Luigi Costamagna, son of Francesco Antonio, the permit “for retail wine trade […] for the wine produced from the grapes of his vineyards “in La Morra.
In 1911 , Francesco and his son Riccardo won the Gold Medal at the International Exhibition Grand Prix in Turin , for presenting fifty years of uninterrupted production. After Francesco’s death, his son Riccardo , a lawyer in Turin and Alba, continued to manage the company with the help of his wife Maddalena. In the 1930s, after Riccardo’s death, Maddalena sold the properties outside of La Morra, but not the vineyards located in the Rocche dell’Annunziata . We limited ourselves to making wine for the needs of the family, and most of the grapes were sold. At the end of the sixties, the granddaughter Claudia Ferraresi , together with her husband Giorgio Locatelli , took over the reins of the family business, alongside the profession of painter with that of a wine entrepreneur.
The winemaking activity is increased with the planting of new vineyards and the restoration of the historic cellars is slowly beginning. Since the mid-eighties, the young Alessandro Locatelli has dealt with every aspect of management. Significantly improves the management of vineyards and winemaking, takes care of sales by expanding the sales network to the four continents.

Intense aromas are characterized by fruity sensations of strawberries, raspberries and candied ripe cherry notes with hints of toast and vanilla oak. A structured and balanced palate with a long finish.
Nebbiolo is able to adapt to different soils and in doing so it establishes a deep bond with the terroir in which it is cultivated. The grapes for our Langhe Nebbiolo come from sandy soils that enhance the aromas of the wine and allow for soft, silky tannins.
Since 1841, generations of the Costamagna family have dedicated their lives to Barolo production.
