Chateau Gigognan Cotes du Rhone 2017 France
$31.95
Chateau Gigognan Cotes du Rhone 2017. Chateau Gigognan is located in the town of Sorgues, on a tributary of the Rhone River which originally belonged to the Jesuit community. Built atop the foundation of a centuries old monastery, the vineyard, a selection over one hundred year old vines, are farmed in organic and bio-dynamic fashion. Soils range from sand and limestone for the Cotes du Rhone to the rocky soil studded with galets roules for the Chateauneuf-du-Pape. The rounded cobble stones, which the Southern Rhone is famous for, provides excellent drainage, absorb heat during the day and radiate the heat back to the vines at night. A bright and fresh vintage for the perennial favorite. Ripe dark plum and roasted herbs comingle on the nose. The palate is lush and super silky in texture with loads of dark plums, violets, spiced garrigue all unfolding into a wave of velvet tannins and finishing ripe. Another stunner from this estate |
