Les Deux Rhones Cotes Du Rhone 2018
This blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mouverdre offers flavours of rasberries and blackberries.
Flametree Embers Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 has a deliciously juicy mid palate with flavours of plum, dark cherry and dried herbs. Unashamedly medium-bodied with sweet juicy fruit and a fine tannin structure.
Irvine Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 is a fruit bowl of raspberries, blackberries and blueberries backed by cedar spice, black pepper and a savory streak. The savoriness continues on the palate in the form of fine-grained tannins that hold all that plump fruit in place. A plush but balanced expression of the Eden Valley.
Tim Smith Bugalugs Shiraz 2021
Aromas of blue and black fruit, a hint of spice and a palate packed with flavour. Fresh acidity and some peppery, earthy characters through the finish.
Established in 2001, and with 33 years of hands on experience, Tim Smith Wines is a Barossa Valley-based producer of wines that we consider our region to excel at growing. We are unashamedly influenced by the great producers of both the North and South Rhone Valley in France, but have a New World understanding of the techniques that we believe work best in our region. This understanding comes as a result of working as a winemaker with some of our regions most respected wineries, and numerous overseas vintages in a number of countries; always watching, always learning, and always challenging even our own winemaking approach. Our wines are at once rich, polished, and structured for longevity, but with a brightness of fruit that invites early drinking.
Mr Barval Cabernet Merlot 2017 A restrained yet complex nose displaying a wonderful mix of cassis, black berry, currant, and plum, hints of spicey oak and a typically delicate Margaret River savoury dried kelp note. Medium to full bodied with plenty of acid to lift the palate and balance the autumn fruit bowl of dark and red berries and fruits. The youthful tannins are nutty, fine and dry and complete the well structured palate to perfection. This wine is already showing great depth and complexity in youth and I feel it has great potential to age and develop for at least 15 years.
KT 5452 Grenache Mataro 2017 is a 75/25% split,with the grenache coming off dry-grown bushvines planted in the 1930s, 50% whole bunches in the ferment with wild yeast and no new oak. The result is an immediately drinkable spicy, savoury and pleasing red. Tannins are so soft and supple bolstered by some pomegranate tang and acidity

Craiglee has been a core member of the Victorian wine industry for over 40 years. But our history stretches back much further…
James Stewart Johnston, a member of the Victorian Parliament, and a prominent Melbourne businessman, originally planted vines at Craiglee in 1863.
The first plantings comprised about 16 acres, made up of a number of varieties, but over time, 2 varieties proved most successful. These were shiraz and riesling.
James S Johnston made wine at Craiglee for about 12 years, during which time he built a substantial bluestone winery that utilised the gravity feed system. Grapes were brought to the upper level by horse and dray, crushed, fermented on the next level and fed into barrels below. The building is constructed to take advantage of the natural slope, and nestling into the hill behind the house, it affords perfect cellaring conditions year round (that we still use today).
The most notable wine of this period was the 1872 Hermitage (shiraz) which was highly awarded at International Wine shows of the time. James’ son, Wilfred, continued to make wine at Craiglee until the 1920s when changing economic circumstances and public tastes forced a change of enterprise. The paddocks were turned over to fat lamb production, and the doors were closed on the winery.
Patrick Carmody, an agricultural science graduate, took over the management of his family farm in Sunbury in the early 1970s. When several bottles from the original winery were opened at a function in Melbourne, it became clear that the Sunbury site provided a unique terroir ideal for the growth of cool-climate wines. As a result Patrick planted vines on the site of the original vineyard in 1976 and processed the first wine in 1979. The first commercial quantity was released in 1982 with the 1980 shiraz.
Plantagenet Aquitaine Cabernet Sauvignon 2018
Intense cassis and dried floral aromas. With a dense vibrant core of berry fruit on the palate and hints of fresh tobacco and subtle earthy undertones. A very approachable, youthful Cabernet with potential to age.
Plantagenet’s total 126 hectares of vineyard have been carved out of the region’s distinctive Marri soils named after the massive native Marri, or Red Gum trees that grow here. The soils are ironstone gravelly loams over a base of clay, sand or the ironstone rock. The vineyards sites are selected where drainage is good enabling control over vine vigour, one of the most important determinents of fruit quality.The combination of soils, landforms and climate – or terroir – creates wines of rare distinction and quality.
Tellurian Tranter Shiraz 2018
Tranter Shiraz is our flagship wine, a tribute to a pioneering Australian, returned WWI soldier George Edwin Tranter who once owned our lands. First made in 2008, this medium to full-bodied shiraz showcases Heathcote’s trademark minerality, depth of flavor and intensity.
Tim Smith Mataro Grenache Shiraz 2021 Discovering more old vine mataro and grenache in the ‘gardens’ of Tim Smith’s Barossa growers, provides him the perfect opportunity to craft a blend that is quite aromatic and in the ‘Rhone Style’ that he loves. Retaining all the plush palate weight is the hallmark of this wine, which is always purposefully mataro dominant. This allows the mataro fruit, which has a similar tannin structure as shiraz, to be ready to drink upon release as well as having some serious cellaring potential.
Chateau Les Grands Marecheaux 2015
Château Massereau, situated at Barsac at about 30 kilometers from Bordeaux, was built in the 16th century and acquired by the Chaigneau family in 2000. The estate extends over 19 hectares, 10 planted (6 600 – 7 000 plants/hectare) in the Barsac, Graves and Bordeaux Superieur appellations.
Jean-François, who chose by passion to become a wine-maker, and Philippe, his brother, sales manager, have taken on a real challenge. Quality and authenticity are the key-words of the estate to give birth to fine, natural, authentic artisan wines.
Extreme vine-growing and wine-making methods, with respect of the terroir, of the vines, of the grapes on the 3 terroirs of Barsac, Graves and Bordeaux Superieur : ploughing (sometimes with horses) (no chemical weeding), disbudding, thinning out of leaves, selection of bunches as well as the harvest are manual and regarding the grapes of Barsac, they are pressed in an old wood press operated manually.
No chaptalisation, no acidification, no filtration, no fining, no wine-making additives, use of a very small quantity of SO² (total SO² from 10 to 35 mg/l), no manipulation, in order to offer natural wines and allow the terroirs to express their typical qualities.
Chateau Gigognan Cotes du Rhone 2019
A good classic from the southern part of the Rhone Valley known for the dominant Grenche varietal. Beautifully defined aromas of ripe berries and dried Provençal herbs. Soft, juicy and easy upfront, the palate unfolds elegantly with notes of fresh tobacco, red berries and underbrush. The finish goes on and on.
Ministry Of Clouds Kintsugi GSM 2018 – A Grenache, Mataro, Shiraz and Cinsault blend , the Kintsugi is vintage dependent. Such a pretty wine, it has a softly-softly delivery as it caresses the mouth. Red berry fruit up front with peppermint very much relaxing out the back. Lighter than expected in the mouth, a gentle rub of earthiness gets me further enthused. Another whiff and purple flowers and blueberries waft on by. A minerally feel is apparent too along with some dried herbs for good measure. What sets this wine apart is the absolute marriage of all parts creating a seamless result. It’s hard not to be in love. Delightful.
