Lino Ramble Picpoul 2023

White flower blossoms, lemon zest and green apple crunch with a saline whisp of the maritime climate that is McLaren Vale.

Picpoul, also known as Piquepoul is an ancient white wine grape variety of the Languedoc-Roussillon region in Southern France. Happily thriving in hot Mediterranean climates, it is no surprise that Picpoul grows well here in McLaren Vale. Translating to “lip stinger” for its ability to retain acid in hot growing conditions. If you’re fond of higher acid wines like Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc, it’s time to give this wine a moment in the spotlight.

While Picpoul is renowned as “the wine for oysters” we’ve also found it works remarkably well along side Salmon with capers and butter

Based in McLaren Vale, fruit is carefully selected from single vineyard sites throughout The Vale and Adelaide Hills. Grape varieties are chosen with a focus on sustainability, intrigue and above all else, drinkability. The wines are hand-made with an emphasis on fruit character being the star of the show, texture is king and the winemaking “fingerprint” kept to a minimum.

Two friends, Andy Coppard (Winemaker) and Angela Townsend (self-proclaimed “Engine Driver”, and a common thread: childhood adventures on the faithful treadlie, lino floors, vinyl records, and board games. Putting Lino Ramble together was always going to be about sharing the adventure: the thrill ride, the opportunity to be excited and shit scared all at the same time.
