Querce Bettina Brunello Di Montalcino 2016 Italy
$128.00
Querce Bettina Brunello Di Montalcino 2016
Deep ruby to garnet-red in colour. In the mouth, pleasantly dry, warm, full and persistent with consistent tannins. This is a wine benefits further ageing, during which time it will become more rounded. Unfiltered, so may produce a slight sediment. Made from 100% Sangiovese Grosso (Brunello), selected throughout the harvest to ensure optimal ripeness of each bunch.
Fermentation in stainless steel until malolactic fermentation is complete, then aged in 22 hl Slavonian wood casks for 30/36 months. The wine is then aged in bottle for over 12 months. Released at least five years after the vintage.
Querce Bettina is a family owned and run farm on the southwest slopes of Montalcino at an altitude of around 440m above sea level. Husband and Wife team Sandra Barenghi and Roberto Moretti bought the 29ha estate in 1990 and following years of research into the terrain they planted 2.4ha of precious Sangiovese in 1999. Their aim from the start was to create two exceptional wines: Rosso di Montalcino DOC and Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, and this was realised in 2009 when the Querce Bettina wines were first released. They have subsequently developed their range releasing limited quantities of Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG in exceptional years and an IGT Toscana, as well as an estate Extra Virgin Olive Oil and a Preserve made from Brunello grapes.
