Raymond Ragnaud Vielle Reserve 1er Cru de Cognac
Raymond Ragnaud Vieille Reserve is a 20 years old “assemblage” Cognac from Grande Champagne 1er cru.
Nose: Slightly woody nose with autumn fruits.
Palate: Unctuous and velvety, releasing delicious exotic notes such as cinnamon, ginger and liquorice.
Length: Very long, complex and balanced eau-de-vie.
Introduction of the distillery:
In 1860, the family of Raymond Ragnaud owned a small vineyard in the Grande Champagne, the most sought-after area of the quality of its eaux-de-vie which were particulary suited for ageing, planted only with Ugni-blanc and Folle blanche grapes, the best varieties of the Charente vineyards.
In 1920, Paul Ragnaud settled in the Château of Ambleville and was succeeded in 1941 by his son Raymond who ran the vineyard and decided to market the eaux-de-vie he had inherited.
In 1963, his wife, with the help of their two children, Françoise and Jean-Marie, expanded the business which now covers 47 hectares in 3 different vineyards – Ambleville, Criteuil and Lignières-Sonneville – lying on the slopes of the Grande Champagne, a unique and exceptionnal area which produces eaux-de-vie of unparalleled quality. These vineyards are cultivated by the Ste Ragnaud-Bricq.
For the last 30 years, Françoise Ragnaud-Bricq, has remained faithful to her roots and carried on the tradition by supervising the grape harvest with meticulousness and great experience. She works hand in hand with the cellar-master to produce eaux-de-vie by distilling only wine harvested in hers vineyards.
Distilling takes place in two stages in two copper pot stills with a capacity of 16 hectolistres. The first distillation is called “Le brouillis”, with an alcohol content of 24° to 32 ° depending on the wine being ditilled, which is then distilled a second time to produce the “bonne chauffe” where only the “coeur” (the heart) is retained, with an alcohol content of 70°, producing a crystal-clear pure eau-de-vie.
This nectar remains in our aging cellars for about a year, stocked in a new oak casks from the Limousin area, before being transferred to older casks to avoid excessive tannin. The eaux-de-vie undergo many changes during this long period in the casks : the volume and the alcohol content are reduced, the colour and the bouquet are transformed to become “cognac”. Once they reach maturity, these “eaux-de-vie” are “awakened” after several years to be blended to produce a harmonious, subtle cognac which is both full-bodied and mellow.
The Cuban way of living through emotions is reflected in everything they do. The way they make music and the way they socialize. They do it all with true emotions, with their soul. Holding nothing back. Black Tears is a true Cuban product of love inspired by the Cuban way of living.
The Cuban passion is reflected in every step of the Black Tears production. From the carefully selected seductive spices, to the connection to Cuban Vigia – a seal of high-quality rum.
Black Tears is an emotional blend of Cuban rum and seductive Cuban spices. Based on a Silver Dry rum from one of the best distilleries on the island, Black Tears is the first ever dry Spiced Cuban Rum on the global market.
The bittersweet taste is what sets apart Black Tears from all other spiced rums, as well as its low sugar content, which is typical for Cuban rum. It is spiced with coffee and cacao which have played a large hand in Cuba’s history and aji dulce which is one of the most distinctive flavors in Cuban cuisine.
Black Tears is bright and clear, smoldering with cool golden intensity. It has a gentle and mysterious sweetness of cocoa accompanying the punch of coffee on the finish, along with the lingering, peppery trace of spice. The result is a very elegant and well-balanced spiced rum.

Antipodes Gin Co decided to create a gin unlike any other. Australia’s first certified organic and carbon neutral gin.
Inspired by the Sunraysia region and its sun-drenched citrus orchards, simple pleasures and the coming together of friends and shared moments.
Antipodes embodies us and our land we all belong to and it’s search for exciting combinations of flavours from our wild and amazing botanicals that are unique to our island and are free from chemicals and pesticides.
Distilled with 100% renewable electricity in our Canberra distillery, Antipodes Gin is infused with native Australian botanicals including Kakadu Plum, lemon myrtle, strawberry gum, aniseed myrtle and Tasmanian pepperberry.
“Getting organic certification and being carbon neutral was a mindful decision for us. We wanted our business to have less impact on the environment, to promote sustainability, to not use any GMOs or ingredients that are sprayed with pesticides and we also wanted to work alongside like-minded, ethically motivated suppliers.”
“Being Australian Certified Organic means that as a business, we are continually working smarter. Certification and supporting carbon neutral has challenged us to think carefully about every practice and process in our business, and to make sure that everything we do is beneficial on a number of levels,”
It paved the way for some like minded friends too – a super smooth vodka, Espresso Liqueur like no other and a delicate Pink Gin.
Let’s make the Antipodes journey together.
Made in a similar fashion to a distilled gin, ultra-pure neutral spirit is re-distilled in the presence of 3 grains, rye, buckwheat and barley. The grains sit in the still’s copper botanical basket helping keep the smoky aromas that derive from them in check.
The result is a novel flavoured vodka with grainy, smoky and nutty flavours at first followed by a faint shaved-chocolate character from the buckwheat. The palate is smooth initially, with a spicy mid-palate due to the rye and the spirit in combination, finishing with a rounded, slightly viscous mouthfeel and clean aftertaste.
Our mature Straight Rye Whiskey mellowed for a further 4 months in a 9 year Tawny Fortified Wine barrel from Dutschke Wines, a family operated Barossa winery.
RYE IS THE GOSPEL
It is widely believed that whiskey was first distilled for medicinal use by monks and apothecaries in Scotland and Ireland. The distillation of whiskey evolved as it moved from monastic to secular, as it did with the path of migration over hundreds of years.
Early Scotch-Irish settlers in the USA used rye to make whiskey because barley didn’t adapt to the North American climate. These conditions are also true for the dry climate of Australia, where we set out to reimagine this original American spirit using 100% Australian rye.
We use proven techniques of the world’s most famous distilleries, coupled with the attention to detail that only a craftsman can offer, to create rye whiskey with passion, integrity, tradition and belief.
The Gospel founders Ben Bowles and Andrew Fitzgerald are long term disciples of the craft of distilling. Ben, a South Carolina native, learnt how to distil before he was old enough to drive.
Set in the backstreets of Melbourne’s eclectic Brunswick neighbourhood, Ben and Andrew designed and built a distillery big enough to match their dreams, but small enough to remain hands on where it matters. With the help of family and friends, the distillery was built over an 18 month period. It features a six metre high continuous column still, designed and built in-house, as well as a bespoke Copper Pot still.
The Gospel wider team are an experienced group of wine makers and brewers, all of whom have a fierce love for deliciously unpretentious rye whiskey.
ABSOLUTE TRUTH & DISCOVERY
We are honest, always staying true to and standing up for our beliefs, and we are inquisitive, always seeking to find the truth through discovery and exploration of the unknown.
WE SUPPORT COMMUNITY
We are firm believers in community. From the single farmer where we source our rye grain, to the wider hospitality community who have been impacted by COVID, we prop up the communities who support us, and give back to like-minded communities where we can.
COMMITMENT TO CULTURE AND CREATIVITY
Born in Brunswick, Melbourne, culture and creativity is intrinsic to our attitude and weaved in to our spirit. We seek to shine a light on the creative community that inspires us.
Rye, a particularly ornery grain, can destroy the soul of the most resolute distiller. Our unwavering passion for rye, and ability to bend the grain to our will, gives you – drinker, follower, believer, fanatic – a whiskey to be enjoyed.
Whiskey is religion. Rye is The Gospel.
Rogue Oregon Rye Malt Whiskey.

The barley in the mash bill (52% rye, 48% barley) further rounds out the taste and mouthfeel creating an easy sipping experience. Complex nuttiness is softened by light caramel and a hint of citrus leading to cinnamon, nutmeg and black pepper.
