The Other Wine Co. Pinot Gris 2021 South Australia Adelaide Hills
$26.35
The Other Wine Co. Pinot Gris 2021
Fresh, lively & textured. Low yields and handpicked fruit. Cool fermentation in stainless steel is followed by four months on lees.
A pale colour leads to a beautifully expressive and enticing wine with aromas of biting into a fresh pear with a musky, spicy lift. There’s intensity, precision and energy to the fruit that is hard to ignore. The palate is then bright and fresh, with crisp acidity plus a touch of sweetness with that fresh pear fruit now offset by more savoury gentle lees influences before a drying, pithy finish. Angus Hughson, Wine Pilot 93 points
A fresh and fragrant gris that has aromas of sliced pear and lemon, as well as apple. The palate has lightly tangy, fresh-pear flavour. 91 Points Jamesuckling.com
Ever since day one, back in 2015, we’ve always been about drinkability and deliciousness. Wines of purity, flavour, balance and purpose…served with a twist.
Our young winemaking team, spearheaded by Matt Large, is driven to explore otherness through new regions, different varieties and experimental winemaking styles. Each time they ask the simple questions “Are we passionate about this place? Does this grape excite us? Can we have fun with it?”. That’s the guidebook to The Other Wine Co. Some of them are classics, some of them are mavericks; all of them make sense to us.
We proudly make these wines at Shaw + Smith, in our beautiful Adelaide Hills home in Balhannah. We’ve got some brilliant kit and some super creative minds here to work with. You can count on us to always be on the look out for something new, we’re thirsty for any opportunity to push texture and chase freshness. You don’t try, you don’t learn.
